Eid al-Fitr is fast approaching and the team at SA International is very excited!

Celebrating EID al- Fitr 2015!!!!!

Eid marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.
On Eid, it is customary for families to celebrate with lots of food and gifts.

Families celebrate Eid similarly to how Christian families celebrate the Christmas tradition in the United States…with lots of food, presents, and decorating!   Such similar trends are decorating home and businesses with lights. Many Muslim families in Saudi Arabia hang “Eid lights” in honor of the holiday.  Another similarity to the Christmas tradition, Many Arab Families and Saudi Families alike make an assortment of Eid cookies in honor of the celebration of Eid.

While rejoicing is a major part of celebrating Eid, it is also important to recognize those who are less fortunate, also known as Zakat or charity. Before the day of Eid, it is customary for families to donate food, money and clothing to local charities so that low-income families can properly observe the religious holiday. It is also traditional in some areas for Saudi men to anonymously leave large quantities of rice and other staples on the doorsteps of those who otherwise could not afford them. Also, in some areas in Saudi Arabia, it is a common tradition during Eid morning and after the Eid prayer for people to gather on large rugs in the streets of their neighborhood to share large meals prepared by each household.

Here at SA International, we celebrate with warm greetings and warm date-filled Eid cookies topped with powdered sugar.

We Wish You ALL Happy Holidays!
