Beginning in June 2018, the restrictions preventing women from driving in Saudi Arabia will be lifted, marking a historic step towards women’s rights in the Gulf Kingdom, the only country in the world that bans women drivers.

The Saudi National Day, which is celebrated in Saudi Arabia on every 23rd of September, marks the day that the King Abdulaziz announced the country as a kingdom, joining of all the regions into one unified country, in 1932.
Saudi National Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom and all cities and towns have special programs of day and evening events with various displays of Saudi history and traditions, including distribution of decorative items, literary events and the hoisting of the Saudi national flag from the world’s tallest flagpole.
Saudi Embassies and Consulates worldwide also host their own events by sharing and showcasing the country’s heritage, food, history, traditions, and culture. In observance of this national holiday, the Saudi Consulate held a celebration in Houston, TX on Monday, September 24, at the Hilton Hotel located in the Galleria area which was attended by the Managing Director of SA International, Suleiman Arabie.
